Turkish Eggs Menemen (One Pan Egg Dish)

Menemen is a traditional Turkish one pan egg dish which includes green peppers, chopped garlic, tomatoes, some spices like black pepper and with drizzling olive oil. Turkish cheese can also be added in it to make it even more delectable.


This amazing Turkish egg recipe is extremely popular in Turkey and is served in most of the Turkish restaurants. The ingredients which goes in this recipe are always present in our kitchen so we can make this traditional recipe at any time to bring variation in our own food. I made this dish and I loved it so I thought to share the recipe with you all.


This is simple, quick recipe and can become a family breakfast to be enjoyed together with traditional Turkish bread. I have served this dish with traditional Turkish pide bread whose recipe I will share in my next post.

Ingredients

· Eggs 4 to 5

· Bell Peppers 2, chopped and deseeded

· Red Chilies 1-2, chopped and deseeded

· Tomatoes 3 cups chopped

· Onions 1, chopped

· Garlic cloves 3 sliced (optional)

· Green Onions 3, 2 for cooking and 1 for garnish

· Olive oil 3 tbsp.

· Black Pepper ½ teaspoon

· Paprika or Chilli flakes

· Salt according to taste

· Parsley small bunch and roughly chopped

Cooking Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in pan. Add in chopped onions and bell peppers.

  2. Sauté the vegetables until tender. Now Sprinkle salt all over.

  3. Add in tomatoes, garlic and onions, let it simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.

  4. Stir in between the cooking until it thickens.

  5. Now use spoon to make hollow in between the vegetables to pour eggs.

  6. Break eggs into each hollow.

  7. Let it simmer while covered until the eggs are slightly cooked for 8 to 10 minutes on low flame.

  8. Help egg whites to cook properly. If You like hard egg yolk then you can cook it a little longer.

  9. Sprinkle ground black pepper over it.

  10. Garnish it with chopped green onions and some parsley leaves or chopped red chilies.

Note:

  1. In this recipe, I have used Pure Himalayan Pink Salt and Olive Oil. You can try them in your recipes.
