Gnocchi one of the varieties in pasta is very famous in Italian cuisine. It consists of various types of thick, small or soft dough which is made of wheat, semolina, potatoes and some other ingredients as well. These little dumplings are great in textures.
My gnocchi recipe is easy and simple to cook but has plenty of flavors in it. The flavors of onions, garlic and all other ingredients go very well with gnocchi. Onions and peas balance the sourness from tomatoes.
This recipe can be made at any time whether at lunch or dinner because it takes very less time. The ingredients which go in this recipe are always present in our kitchens and not very fancy ones.
Enjoy this comforting bowl of gnocchi with some Parmesan on top of it.

Serving: 1 or 2 Preparation time: 15 to 20 minutes
Ingredients
Gnocchi 250 gm
Peas (fresh or frozen) 1/3 cup
Salt as per taste
Olive oil 3 to 4 tbsp
Garlic chopped 3 to 4 medium cloves
Onions chopped 1 medium
Ground black pepper 1 tsp
Mixed herbs 1 tsp
Chili flakes 1 tsp
Tomatoes (tin or fresh puree) half cup
Water to boil
Parmesan cheese for sprinkle
Method
Boil the gnocchi pasta in a large bowl for 2 to 3 minutes on high flame until its a little soft. Rinse the pasta and keep it aside for later.
In a large pan put some olive oil and add chopped garlic, saute it for about a minute.
Now add chopped onions in the garlic and cook them on medium flame till they get a little soft.
After adding onions now add boiled peas and mix them all. Add black pepper, salt and mixed herbs.
At this stage add tomato puree and cook them on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes.
When the tomato puree is cooked with garlic, onions and herbs then finally add boiled gnocchi. Cook for another 2 to 4 minutes from medium to low flame.
You can also cover the pan for a few minutes.
When the gnocchi is ready then sprinkle some Parmesan cheese on the top of it.
Notes
You can use either frozen or fresh peas. If using fresh peas then boil them before adding them to the gnocchi.
You can also use fresh or tin tomatoes as per your taste. I have used tinned cherry tomatoes.
Tin tomatoes are sourer then fresh ones so add according to your taste.
