This is another kind of coconut sauce recipe which is more sour and tangy in taste. This is south Indian delicacy. This sauce is very popular in the Indian subcontinent. It is a healthy and tasty sauce that can be served with any kind of food whether steamed or fried food or with any main dish. This sauce also tastes good with plain rice. Coconut chutney is prepared with tomatoes, chilies, onions, lentils, and spices.
Ingredients
Coconut half fresh
Oil 2 tbsp
Chana dal (split Bengal gram) 1 tbsp
Udad dal (skinned black gram) 1 tbsp
Tomato 1
Onions 1/2
Red dried challis 2 to 4
Lemon half
Garlic 1 to 2
Water as per requirement
Salt
SEASONING
Oil 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds half tbsp
Curry leaves 3 to 4 leaves
Asafoetida a pinch
Dried red chilies 1 to 2
Cooking Instructions
Take a pan and add oil to it.
When oil gets hot then add both lentils and fry it.
After a minute add sliced onions, tomatoes and cook it
Add dried chills into it and some salt.
Cook it for 3 to 4 minutes on medium flame.
You can sprinkle some water to accelerate the cooking process.
When its cook turn off the gas and let it cool.
When the mixture is cool down, grind it using some water o make a thick paste.
Now add this paste to grinned fresh coconut.
Add lemon juice and salt according to your taste and keep it aside.
For Seasoning
Add oil in a pan
when oil is heated, add mustard seeds.
after 1 to 2 minutes add dried chilies, and curry leaves, and asafoetida.
add this mixture in the coconut chutney and serve it with any food you like.
