Coconut chutney is being served as a side dish and as a condiment in southern parts of India.The main ingredient of this is coconut which is grounded with other ingredients like green chilies,lentils etc.This sauce or chutney can be eaten with any dish like pakora,sandwiches,vada or even with plain rice at any time of the day.This chutney is healthy,homemade.
Ingredients
Coconut fresh half grated
Chana daal or Peanuts 2 tsp
Salt
Green chilies 2
Water as needed
Garlic 1 clove
Seasoning or Tadka
Mustard seeds/Rai 1 tasp
Red dried chilies 1
Curry leaves 3 to 4 leaves
Asafoetida just a pinch
Oil 1 tsp
Optional
lemon juice 1 tsp
Cooking Instructions
Take a pan and add oil into it .
Add lentil or peanuts in the oil and fry it till it turns light golden in colour.
In a blender put fried lentils,grated coconut,chillis,garlic clove.
Add water so that the ingrediants blend smoothely in a blender.
Take out the smooth paste in a bowl
Add salt according to your taste.
Add lemon juice if you want a bit sour in taste.
Cooking instructions for seasoning
Take a small pan and add oil in it.
When oil turns hot then add mustard seeds into it.
After 1 to 2 minutes of frying mustard seeds on a low flame,add red dried chilies
Now add curry leaves and a pinch of asafoetida into it.
Cook it for just 1 minutes on low flame.
Now pour this seasoning onto the coconut sauce.
Your sauce is ready to eat.
