Peshawari chicken karahi

This is one of the delicious chicken recipe which is not only famous in Pakistani cuisine but also in North India.There are many different ways of cooking chicken karahi but this one is very popular.This karahi chicken is very aromatic and tangy in taste which is well served with Naan in lunch as well as in dinner .It contains very few ingredients .The main dominant ingredient of this recipe is Tomato.

Ingredients


Chicken 500 gm

Tomatoes 4

Oil 100 ml

Green Chilies 3 to 4

Salt as per taste

Ginger

Garlic 5 to 6 {accordingly}

Black pepper powder 1 tbsp

Zeera powder 1 tbsp

Red chilli powder 1 tea spoon

Ginger for garnish


Cooking Instructions

  • Heat the karahi and add oil into it

  • Into heated oil add chicken pieces.

  • Fry the chicken on high flame for about 10 to 15 minutes and keep stirring it

  • Add chopped tomatoes into chicken

  • Cover the chicken for next five to 10 minutes on medium flame

  • After few minutes when the tomatoes gets soften then add green chillis red chilli powder,black pepper powder and zeera powder. Let it cooked on medium flame.

  • Add around 50 ml water and cover it. Keep the flame on medium to low for 5 to 10 minutes

  • Finally add chopped ginger for garnish and serve it with Naan.


Notes

  • This recipe is dry recipe and not gravy so add water accordingly

  • This chicken recipe does not contain too many spices

  • Tomatoes is the main ingredient of this recipe so in it goes more than normal quantity of tomatoes.

  • Since it is dry recipe so make sure it does not get burnt so be aware of that .

  • And do not forget to fry the chicken first in more quantity of oil. Before adding tomatoes into chicken you can take out extra oil in another bowl to reuse in another recipe
