Chilli Chicken (Unfried)

Chilli Chicken is Asian delight which is very popular in Chinese as well as Indochinese

cuisine.In this recipe chicken is generally fried and then stir fried with vegetables like capsicum, onions and with sauces like soy sauce, vinegar and some other sauces.But my recipe of chilli chicken is without deep frying the chicken which is healthier than the fried one.It can be served either with fried rice or with noodles.


Cuisine Asian Preparation Time 15 to 20 minutes

Course Starter or Main Course Cooking Time 20 to 25 minutes



Ingredients

  • Chicken around 700 gm

  • Capsicum or Bell peppers 2

  • Red Onions 2

  • Oil 2 tbsp

  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp

  • Black pepper powder or crushed 1/2 tsp

  • Red chilli sauce 1/2 tbsp

  • Soy sauce 1 tbsp

  • Red chilli flakes 1/2 tsp

  • Paprika powder 1/2 tsp

  • Cornflour 1 1/2 tbsp (mix it with little water)

  • Water half cup

Cooking Method

  • Place the large pan or a wok on the gas

  • Add oil into the pan and heat it

  • Add chicken pieces into the pan and cook it for about 10 minutes first on the high flame then on the medium flame.

  • Now add salt in the chicken and mix it well.

  • Cover the pan and set the flame on the low flame and let the chicken cook till it gets soft.

  • After about 10 minutes when the chicken is 80 % cooked, remove the lid from the pan and cook it on high flame to reduce the chicken juices.

  • Add dry spices into it and and ginger garlic paste.

  • Now add all the sauces and stir it well on high flame for around 2 minutes .

  • At this time add bell peppers and onions into it and cook it on the high flame till it gets a little dry.

    • Now add cornflour( mixed with water )into the chilli chicken and stir it well.

    • Cook the chilli chicken for 5 to 6 minutes on the medium to low flame till i gets little dry.

    • Then turn off the gas and serve it hot.

Chilli chicken is ready to serve!

Notes

  • You can adjust spices according to your taste.

  • You can either use boneless chicken or chicken with bones.

  • For chilli sauce I used Frank's Red hot original but you can use any chilli sauce available to you or you like.

  • For soy sauce I used Maggie hot liquid seasoning but you can use any light to medium soy sauce of your taste.
