Turkey is also well known, not only for its rich and ancient history but also for its mesmerizing culture and interesting transcontinental geographical location.
Similarly, when it comes to food, Turkish Cuisine has always captured the imagination of people across the globe. Turkish Cuisine is the heritage of the Ottoman Empire and amalgamation of neighbouring regions like southern Europe, Balkans, and Central Asia etc. It has, in turn, influenced other cuisines as well like West European cuisine.
Travellers can enjoy a vast variety of foods in Turkish restaurants. Today, I will present one such recipe which every Turk enjoys daily in his/her breakfast i.e. Menemen. Menemen is a famous egg dish relished as a breakfast meal in Turkish households. This dish is akin to “Shakshouka” which has existed in Mediterranean cultures for centuries.
Menemen (one pan egg dish)
Menemen is a traditional Turkish one-pan egg dish cooked with green peppers, tomatoes and some spices like black pepper and with drizzling olive oil. Turkish cheese is also added in it to make it even more delectable. This amazing and different egg dish can be enjoyed when in turkey to have more Turkish cultural feeling.
The ingredients which go in this are always present in our homes so we can enjoy this traditional recipe at any time to give innovation to our own food. To make it even tastier you can top it up with spring onions, parsley or with feta cheese. Onions can also be added in this recipe. This dish is served with Turkish tea and pita bread.

Ingredients
· Eggs 4 to 5
· Green Peppers 2, chopped and deseeded
· Red Chillies 1-2, chopped and deseeded
· Tomatoes 3 cups chopped
· Onions 1, chopped
· Garlic cloves 3 sliced (optional)
· Green Opinions 3, 2 for cooking and 1 for garnish
· Olive oil 3 tbsp.
· Black Pepper ½ teaspoon
· Paprika or Chilli flakes
· Salt according to taste
· Parsley small bunch and roughly chopped
Cooking Instructions
· Heat the olive oil in a pan. Add in chopped onions and green peppers.
· Sauté the vegetables until tender.
· Add in tomatoes, garlic and green onions, let it simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
· Stir in between the cooking until it thickens.
· Sprinkle salt all over.
· Now use a spoon to make hollow in between the vegetables to pour eggs.
· Break eggs into each hollow.
· Let it simmer uncovered until the eggs are slightly cooked for 8 to 10 minutes.
· Help egg whites to cook properly. If You like hard egg yolk then you can cook it a little longer.
· Sprinkle ground black pepper over it.
· Garnish it with chopped green onions and some parsley leaves.
