As you all know the festive season is here and there is super excitement everywhere for new clothes, home shopping and above all, the craze for sweets among everyone regardless of age mostly Indian sweets around Diwali which is one of the major festivals in India.
So on this Diwali, I have come up with the very easy yet tasty and most common dessert in India that is called Burfi.
So what is Diwali?
Diwali is a festival of lights and one of the major festivals celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs and some Buddhists, notably Newar Buddhists. One of the most popular festivals of Hinduism, Diwali symbolizes the spiritual "victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance".
So this festival is one of the favourite festivals of every Indian. The festival usually lasts five days and people during this festival buy new clothes, exchange sweets and decorate their homes with earthen oil lamps and rangolis.
So what actually Burfi is?
Burfi is an Indian fudge that is primarily made with milk, milk powder, khoya (dried evaporated milk solids) and condensed milk.
This sweet is very tasty and very popular in India. You can find it in almost every sweet shop in India yet many people buy it from the shops and seldom make it at home.

Cuisine: Indian Cooking Time: 20 to 25 minutes
Ingredients
Milk powder: 150 gm
Sweetened Condensed milk: 400 gm
Green cardamom powder: 1 tsp
Pistachios: handful for garnishing
Ghee (clarified butter): 4 tbsp
Milk (optional): 4 to 5 tbsp
Instructions
In a large deep pan, pour all the sweetened condensed milk while on medium flame.
Add milk powder and mix it well. Keep stirring it to avoid any lumps in it.
After about 5 minutes add cardamom powder and keep on stirring it while from medium to low flame.
You have to keep it stirring from avoiding it from burning.
Cook it until the batter gets thick and if you want to add little milk to make it softer then you can add it at this stage.
When the batter is a little bit thick then switch off the flame and transfer the burfi into the square or rectangular pan to give it a burfi or fudge shape.
Keep this bowl in a cool place or in the fridge for about 1 hour and then cut it into rectangular pieces.
Finally, garnish it with pistachios and it is ready to eat.
Notes
You can add some milk if you want your burfi a little softer.
Sweetness can be adjusted as per taste.
You can add more condensed milk or powdered sugar for extra sweetness.
Almonds or cashews can also be used for garnishing.
Thank You!
