Besan Burfi

The authentic Punjabi sweet made from Gram Flour and Desi Ghee


The Indian delicacy, quick and easy dessert especially healthy for kids.

Besan Barfi recipe needs few ingredients and can be prepared in a short time.


Course -Dessert Cuisine - Indian

Prep Time - 10 minutes Cooking Time - one hour


Ingredients

  • Besan: 250 gm

  • Desi Ghee: 200 gm

  • Sugar: 200 gm

  • Green cardamoms: 4 to 5

  • Water: 750 ml

  • Pistachios: 50 gm


Instructions

  • Place the pan on the gas and heat it a bit,

  • Add besan and ghee together, keep flame at high.

  • Mix it well

  • Get the flame from high to medium

  • Keep on stirring it till it turns from golden to brown in color and takes a cream-like texture

  • When the besan is golden brown in color and gain watery consistency then keep it aside

  • For sugar syrup add water, sugar, and a few cardamoms in a pan on high flame

  • when the sugar syrup is a little bit reduced inconsistency, then add it into besan slowly while continuously stirring the besan on low flame

  • when sugar syrup (chashni) is well mixed then put it into a square-shaped bowl and keep it aside or in the fridge for around half to one hour and then cut it into pieces.

  • Finally, decorate it with some pistachios.

Notes

  • Don't leave the besan on gas otherwise, it will get burn very soon.

  • In this recipe, I have used besan and desi ghee and you can also try this.

  • Keep on stirring it till the time it prepares.

  • Initially, besan will be hard to stir but when it's ready it will take a cream-like texture.

  • You can add sugar according to your taste

  • You can also add any nuts that you like.
